£8.85 Million Damages for Tetraplegic Man

At a settlement meeting on 15 January 2010 Stewarts Law successfully negotiated compensation for our client TB of £8.85 million. TB sustained C6 complete tetraplegic when travelling as a passenger in a friend's vehicle that went out of control on a roundabout and rolled over a roadside barrier and down an embankment. Consequent to his spinal cord injury he has life-long care and equipment needs. With interim payments that Stewarts Law obtained he was able to purchase a lowered floor Chrysler Voyager with driving controls suitable for his disability.

TB had married just a couple of months before the accident and his wife at that time was still awaiting a visa to come to the UK. With Stewarts Law's assistance a visa was obtained and interim funding obtained through the claim enabled them to take a hugely enjoyable honeymoon in Malaysia. Once the final settlement package has been received TB will be in a position to purchase and adapt a suitable house for him and his wife and for their future children, as his wife is pregnant.

Julian Chamberlayne, Partner at Stewarts Law represented TB throughout and commented that:

"This is one of the highest reported lump sum settlement packages ever obtained, which should provide TB and his wife with the financial security they will need for their future. Working with the best experts available we had to carefully analyse every aspect of TB's future needs to ensure nothing was missed, including advancing claims for a number of items of novel technological equipment. We also had to be willing to press TB's case onto within just a couple of weeks of a Trial to achieve such a high award".

TB added "I am really happy with this outcome which has made my future prospects safe and comfortable. I want to express my thanks to the Stewarts Law team".
