Specialisations

Andrew specialises in complex commercial litigation and arbitration and has extensive experience before UK and international courts and tribunals in a wide range of contractual, tort-based and regulatory claims including issues relating to banking and finance, private equity, telecommunications/IT and professional conduct. His current and recent cases include:

  • Commercial court action for breach of contractual obligations owed by Morgan Stanley to a class of bondholders;
  • Court of Appeal contract claim brought by a group of traders against Dresdner Kleinwort/Commerzbank concerning the topical subject of Bankers' bonuses;
  • Establishing the standard of professional care owed by a City firm to its commercial clients in the Court of Appeal case of Levicom v. Linklaters;
  • Obtaining UK and overseas 'freezing order' injunctive relief for a premier football club against a delinquent director;
  • Advising a hedge fund against its prime broker on a claim for mismanagement and loss sustained in foreign exchange derivatives trading;
  • Acting for a consortium of investors prosecuting a telecommunications satellite fraud case involving coordinated action in a number of foreign jurisdictions;
  • International arbitration proceedings on behalf of a UK based aviation group against an overseas state owned airline for breach of the 'wet lease' of aircraft supplied to the Middle East;
  • Acting for purchasers and for vendors in various Share Purchase Agreement warranty claims involving household name PLCs.

Andrew has previously gained experience as a partner in a specialist US litigation firm.

Personal

Andrew is a keen yachtsman and is an enthusiastic competitor in the annual legal regatta at Cowes. He resides in London and Oxford.
