PRESS RELEASE
Jonathan Sinclair Joins Litigation Law Firm Stewarts Law
Award winning specialist litigation firm Stewarts Law today announces the appointment of Jonathan Sinclair and the creation of a new department. Jonathan will take charge of the newly formed Antitrust Litigation Department whilst also being appointed Head of Commercial Litigation at the firm's Leeds office.
The new Antitrust Litigation Department will advise both Claimants and Defendants on all aspects of competition, EU and international trade related litigation and will conduct cases in both the UK courts and the European Court of Justice.
The work of Jonathan and the new Antitrust Litigation Department will complement Stewarts Law's existing capabilities particularly in the banking litigation field. Stewarts Law is one of the few leading law firms willing and able to take action against banks, recently issuing a claim for £30 million in unpaid bonuses on behalf of 72 current and former Dresdner Kleinwort bankers against new owner Commerzbank.
Jonathan has a hugely impressive track record and joins Stewarts Law from Eversheds where he was Equity Partner and the former Head of the Commercial Litigation Group. Jonathan has been consistently recognised as a leading individual in the Yorkshire and Humber region in both the Legal 500 and UK Chambers and Partners for the last eight years.
Jonathan Sinclair said of his appointment:
"I was drawn to Stewarts Law because it is an innovative and fast growing specialist litigation firm which is attracting significant and interesting work. I obviously expect to see a growth in Commercial Litigation given the current market and Stewarts Law is at the forefront of this as demonstrated by its willingness to take action against the major banks.
Managing Partner John Cahill commented that:
"Jonathan's appointment reflects our commitment to establish Stewarts Law as the UK's leading specialist litigation law firm. The creation of a new Antitrust Litigation Department will further enhance our commercial litigation capability and fits well with our current strategy of adding critical mass and diversity to our litigation offering.
The Commercial Litigation Department at Stewarts Law is noted for its experience in banking, fraud and professional negligence with our work encompassing UK litigation, heavyweight international litigation, international arbitration and complex multi-jurisdictional disputes. Antitrust and EU cases are of particular interest in the current market and Jonathan's track record in handling OFT and EU Commission related litigation will be invaluable."
