03 May 2010

Press Release

Stewarts Law, the leading specialist litigation law firm, has announced the appointment of Gareth Brahams as a Partner and Head of its newly established employment department.

Gareth is one of the most highly regarded employment lawyers in London and joins Stewarts Law from the top ranked employment practice at Lewis Silkin. He is regarded as an innovative and tenacious employment lawyer. He has built his reputation acting mainly for individuals in high value and high profile disputes.

Gareth is the Chair of the Employment Lawyers Association's Training Committee. He has acted in many groundbreaking cases, most recently Beck v. CIBC which both made front page news in the national press and established new law in the Court of Appeal.

At Stewarts Law Gareth will continue to act against investment banks and other City institutions as well as carrying on the full range of other employment work for which he is well known. The newly formed department will benefit from the firm's strategic conflict-free positioning as one of the few leading firms able to litigate against the major banks.

The firm expects to repeat the success achieved in its existing litigation areas and establish a leading employment law practice within a short space of time. Gareth will be joined by other highly regarded City employment lawyers - appointments are already in the pipeline.

Managing Partner, John Cahill at Stewarts Law comments, "We are delighted that Gareth has joined us. His practice fits incredibly well with the work of the commercial litigation department and the general conflict free strategic positioning of the firm. It further strengthens the advice and support that we can provide to those in dispute with banks and other major City institutions".

Gareth Brahams comments, "Individuals seeking high quality employment law advice now have the best of all worlds - the expertise and quality of a City firm but with a claimant focus".
