The Competition Litigation team
Jonathan Sinclair is a Partner and Head of the Competition Litigation department firm-wide. Jonathan has been consistently recognised as a leading expert in commercial litigation representing many major and global companies. Jonathan was previously Head of the Commercial Litigation group firm-wide at Eversheds, and was at Clifford Chance before that.
Jonathan has increasingly specialised in competition litigation since the field first began to develop, joining Stewarts Law in 2009 to set up and lead a Competition Litigation team with an emphasis on cartel damages claims. Much of his work is confidential involving pursuing and resolving cartel damages claims for major businesses.
Chambers 2013 comments that Jonathan has an "outstanding reputation as a strong technical lawyer and someone of great integrity", and is a "good operator and an excellent litigator". Jonathan is described in the 2012 edition of Legal 500 as a "top litigator", and market sources say he is both "incredibly bright and quietly persuasive."
Scott Campbell is a Partner in our Competition Litigation Department in our London office. Scott has extensive experience in a range of complex multi-jurisdictional commercial disputes arising out of infringements of EU and UK competition law. Scott has, for example, been involved in cartel damages actions for claimants in the long haul air passenger, air freight, marine hoses, carbon and graphite, elevators and automotive sectors among others. Scott trained (in both London and Brussels) and qualified in the competition law team at Norton Rose before moving to Stewarts Law via Latham & Watkins and Hausfeld & Co where he was a specialist competition litigator.
Mo Bhaskaran has over 15 years' experience handling complex litigation for major public and private sector clients. He has particular experience of fraud matters, major project litigation (including PFI and IT disputes) and all aspects of major product recall/product liability matters. Mo trained at Pinsent Masons and became a Partner at their commercial litigation group before joining Stewarts Law as Head of Commercial Litigation in Leeds in 2013.
Inge Forster has broad experience of all aspects of commercial litigation with a particular focus on contractual disputes involving financial services. Inge has experience of assisting at the execution of search orders as a supervising solicitor. She joined the firm in 2009 and was promoted to Partner in 2013.
Matthew Fidler is a Senior Associate with a broad experience of working on complex commercial disputes with a particular emphasis on contractual disputes, professional negligence, civil fraud and cartel damages claims. Cases/experience include: Acting for a major group of UK retailers against MasterCard; Acting for a aircraft engine manufacturer on product liability dispute a worth circa £30m; Acting for a large gambling and amusement business on a £50m contractual dispute.
Nick Haworth is a Senior Associate with a broad experience of complex commercial disputes, dispute resolution and investigations for large corporates with a particular emphasis on matters involving heavy industry, IT, telecommunications, corporate fraud and media issues. His experience includes: Acting for the sellers of a UAE based company in defending a £60m warranty claim in the Commercial Court; Successfully challenging jurisdiction in relation to a large fraud claim; Advising a defendant supplier in a £50m cross-border arbitration relating to a travel industry global distribution system.
Anna Crellin is a Senior Associate specialising in competition litigation. She has broad experience in acting for defendants in cross-border competition investigations, follow-on actions and regulatory investigations. Anna has represented clients from a variety of sectors including financial services, insurance, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and hi-tech. Anna has acquired significant experience in European and domestic antitrust investigations, follow-on damages claims in the High Court and CAT and regulatory investigations.
Tim Brown is an Associate Barrister and specialises in the private enforcement of competition law. Companies and consumers have the right to recover damages as a result of competition law infringements by undertakings. Tim acts in high value claims where significant losses have been suffered individually or collectively by claimants who have been affected by anti-competitive conduct, and, often, the industries have been the subject of regulatory investigations, including the energy, financial services, information technology and pharmaceuticals sectors.
As an English qualified barrister, Tim has full rights of audience before all English Courts and has conducted trials, interlocutory applications and appeals, in the High Court, the Court of Appeal and a range of other courts and specialist tribunals.
Stuart Carson is an Associate specialising in commercial dispute resolution and has a broad range of experience acting for both claimants and defendants in large scale disputes, including dealing with multi-jurisdictions. Stuart has particular expertise of the energy industry, having worked for two years in-house for GDF SUEZ Europe and International Power plc, specialising in high value litigation.
Leah Keen specialises in competition litigation. Leah has been involved in high profile, multi-party follow-on damages claims relying on the European Commission Decisions in MasterCard, Copper Fittings, Air Cargo and Animal Feed Phosphates. Having acted for claimants, defendants and contribution defendants in the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Competition Appeal Tribunal, Leah's experience is broad. In addition, Leah has recently acted on: a challenge to certain decisions of the Competition and Markets Authority; a judicial review relying on State aid law and a cartel investigation.
William Towell is an Associate specialising in resolving commercial and financial disputes. He has considerable experience with cross border disputes, asset tracing and partnership/shareholder disputes. Clients describe him as committed, helpful and creative in what he does.
