The Employment team
Gareth Brahams is the Head of the Employment Department. Prior to joining Stewarts Law he was a partner at Lewis Silkin for eight years (qualified in 1995). The current edition of the independent legal directory, Chambers and Partners, ranks Gareth in the top tier of employment lawyers in London advising senior executives. Chambers described Gareth as "bright, energetic and hands-on" and "widely recognised as a terrific lawyer who strives more than most to get the best result for his clients". Gareth has made his name acting for individuals working in financial services in their high profile, high value disputes against their employers involving whistle blowing and discrimination. His most recent case to be reported in the national press was when he assisted Achim Beck in his successful claim against CIBC (Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce) for age discrimination. The case was notable for the fact that Mr Beck was found to have been considered too old, despite only being 42 years of age and that he succeeded on three appeals. Gareth also advises a wide range of employers as well as employees across all areas of employment law. Gareth is elected Chair of the Employment Lawyers Association's Training Committee and a member of its management committee. He is a regular and highly rated conference speaker as well as a frequent commentator in the press. Gareth was one of only two employment lawyers to be ranked in the Lawyer magazine's "hot 100 lawyers to watch in 2012".

Arpita was also named in the Lawyer 'Hot 100' Lawyers for 2011, which identifies solicitors who have made an outstanding contribution in their field.
