Commercial Litigation

Oliver has worked on a variety of complex, high-value commercial disputes with multi-jurisdictional issues. His previous experience includes working on cases involving complex fraud, international sanctions, and securities litigation, in particular, group actions.

Pro Bono

During his time in our Pro Bono department, Oliver assisted individuals who had suffered significant life changing injuries in relation to their finances, welfare benefits and employment issues. He has wide-ranging experience of representing individuals in disputes involving the DWP, local authorities, creditors and employers.

 

Experience

  • Acting for a large group of institutional investors who have brought claims of compensation under s.90A Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 for more than £450m against Tesco PLC in connection with accounting irregularities
  • Acting for a financial institution in a dispute concerning the validity of corporate actions under the Cayman Islands sanctions regime
  • Acting for secondary market investors in the Middle East against BNP Paribas arising from the failure of the Golden Belt bond
  • Acting in a €500m claim against an investment bank for breach of fiduciary duty arising out of market manipulation in respect of complex credit-linked note transactions, and related offshore insolvency proceedings

Career

Oliver graduated with a BA in International Relations from the University of Brighton in 2014 before going on to complete the GDL and LPC at the University of Law in Guildford. Prior to beginning his training contract in 2019, Oliver worked as a paralegal in the Commercial Litigation department at Stewarts.

Personal

Oliver is a keen runner, taking part in several races for charity including two marathons. All of this is tiring work and so to restore his energy levels, Oliver enjoys cooking and, more importantly, eating delicious food.
