Specialisations

Clive Zietman is a well-known commercial litigator who has been involved in a wide range of complex high value claims including a number of very high profile fraud, professional negligence and banking disputes often involving an international dimension. He acted in several well-publicised cases during the 1990s including two aspects of the Maxwell affair. He has been described by Chambers as a "natural-born litigator" who has "a really effective manner in finding the commercial solutions to disputes". He has appeared recently in the Evening Standard publication London's 1000 Most Influential People. Clive has written widely about fraud and dispute resolution both in the legal and national press and lectures regularly on both subjects. Over the past few years Clive has been involved in several actions against banks, a task which most Central London law firms are unable to undertake as a result of conflicts of interest.

Clive also acts as a Supervising Solicitor appointed by the Court in Search Order cases having done so in several high profile cases including the Ferrari secrets case and the Elton John stolen refuse dispute.

On qualification in 1985 Clive joined Herbert Smith where he worked for many years as an assistant. He set up his own firm in 1994 which grew to become a 13 partner firm seven years later. Clive was Head of Commercial Litigation at Manches from 2004 until 2009 when he joined Stewarts Law to establish what has quickly become an 8 partner strong department.
