Stewarts is delighted to announce that Cheryl Palmer-Hughes, a partner in the firm’s International Injury and Aviation team, has been awarded both the Senior Litigator and Accidents and Illnesses Abroad Specialist accreditations by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). This achievement reinforces Stewarts’ status as the firm with more solicitors holding the prestigious APIL specialist accreditation for accidents abroad than any other firm.
APIL, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to championing the rights of injured individuals for nearly three decades, recognises legal excellence through its rigorous accreditation scheme. These accreditations serve as a trusted quality mark, helping people who have sustained personal injuries identify lawyers with proven expertise and commitment.
Mike Benner, Chief Executive of APIL, commented:
“Being injured through negligence is never planned for and many victims feel vulnerable and uncertain about the future. The APIL accreditation logo lets injured people and their families know that they are in the very safest hands and that their lawyers are dedicated to getting their lives back on track.”
“APIL members who are awarded accredited status must demonstrate expertise and experience and be up to date with the latest legal training and developments in the law.”
Commenting on the new accreditations, Cheryl said:
“I am honoured to receive these accreditations from APIL. I look forward to continuing to advocate for those affected by catastrophic injuries overseas and to further my contributions to the development of international injury law to ensure injured individuals and their families receive the justice and support they deserve.”
Cheryl’s recognition by APIL adds to an already distinguished career. She is a member of the American Association for Justice, serving on its Board of Governors as Revitalisation Officer for the UK, and sits on the Executive Board of PEOPIL. She also holds the role of Honorary Co-Secretary of the Manchester Law Society, where she chairs the Personal Injury and Medical Negligence Focus Group and contributes to its International Practice Group.
Drawing on more than 15 years of expertise, Cheryl focuses on complex cross-border serious injury cases. She advocates for both adults and children who have sustained injuries overseas, and her insights into international litigation frequently earn her invitations to speak at global legal conferences.
Her dual APIL accreditations not only reflect her personal dedication to excellence but also reinforce Stewarts’ reputation as a leader in international personal injury law.
