Cases in which Pia has acted include:

• Acting for the Public Institution for Social Security, Kuwait in the landmark corruption case against Mr Al Rajaan and others, worth over US$ 2bn. It is one of the most complex and substantial fraud cases to be heard by the English Courts in recent history. The case spans multiple jurisdictions and parallel criminal proceedings
• Advising a technology corporate and senior executive on allegations of misuse of confidential information, and related injunction applications
• Acting for the estate of a high profile individual in a civil fraud claim against a Russian state owned airline
• Acting for three high net worth individuals in relation to a complex hedge fund partnership dispute involving fraud allegations
• Acting for Standard Life in a case involving conspiracy allegations and other economic torts
• Advising a US client in an ICC arbitration involving breach of trust allegations against a trustee
• Advising both individuals and corporates in relation to financial criminal exposure and related investigatory work

Expertise

Pia works with clients in a diverse range of sectors, from foreign public institutions, through to hedge funds and partnerships. Many of Pia’s cases involve multiple jurisdictions and she is experienced in dealing with complex jurisdictional matters. Pia is ”an expert in handling experts and foreign law issues” (Legal 500, 2026).

Pia was recently recognised by Law.com International as one of the 25 women who “represent the best and brightest” the UK market has to offer. She is described in Chambers & Partners (2026) as “a real superstar” with “great instinct for litigation and strong people skills. You can put her in for the difficult moments in a case”.

Career

Pia obtained her law degree from University College London (first class honours) before training at Herbert Smith Freehills and qualifying into their commercial litigation and advocacy department. After four years, Pia joined Addleshaw Goddard’s London litigation team before joining Stewarts in November 2014.
