Leading disputes firm Stewarts has appointed Alexandra Lyons as a partner within its Policyholder Disputes practice, reinforcing the firm’s capability in complex, high‑value construction‑related insurance disputes and international coverage litigation.

Alexandra is an insurance and reinsurance disputes specialist with over a decade of experience in complex first‑ and third‑party coverage claims across the construction, energy, property and aviation sectors. She has significant experience acting on large, multi‑jurisdictional disputes, including international litigation and arbitration involving major infrastructure projects and cross‑border insured losses.

Speaking about her appointment, Alexandra said:

“Complex insured losses arising from construction, energy and infrastructure projects increasingly involve significant cross‑border risk and contested coverage positions. Stewarts’ policyholder‑only model, combined with its heavyweight disputes capability, offers a compelling platform to pursue the most challenging coverage claims against major insurers. I am delighted to be joining the firm at such an exciting stage in the practice’s growth.”

The Stewarts’ Policyholder Disputes practice is recognised as one of the UK’s leading specialist policyholder teams, acting exclusively for insureds in high‑value, complex insurance disputes. The practice has built strong momentum through its role in nationally significant litigation and its growing international profile, and with 13 dedicated fee earners, is now one of the largest teams in the market.

Aaron Le Marquer, partner and head of the Policyholder Disputes practice at Stewarts, says:

“Construction‑related insured losses are a core strategic growth area for the practice, with increasing volumes of high‑value claims arising from cladding, fire safety issues and complex international developments. Alexandra’s appointment is an important hire and deepens our construction disputes capability. Her experience handling technically complex, cross‑border coverage litigation strongly aligns with our focus on acting for policyholders in the most challenging disputes.”

The Policyholder Disputes team acts across a wide range of sectors including construction, energy, financial services, retail and international corporates, and is known for its unconflicted position in the insurance market, trial‑ready litigation capability and innovative funding structures. The practice is one of the firm’s fastest‑growing groups and plays a key role in Stewarts’ international growth strategy.

Stewarts’ managing partner, Stuart Dench, concludes:

“Alexandra’s appointment reflects our continued investment in building market‑leading disputes practices with real depth and international reach. Her expertise in complex insurance disputes further strengthens our policyholder offering and supports our long‑term growth ambitions.”
