The International Attorney Group of Stewarts of London, UK and Wisner Law, of Chicago, US is assisting families and investigating the circumstances surrounding the loss of a second Boeing 737 Max aircraft.

Stewarts and Wisner have already been retained by a number of families who lost loved ones in the first crash of a Boeing 737 Max aircraft in Indonesia in October 2018, on Lion Air Flight JT610. The attorneys have filed a lawsuit in Federal Court in Chicago against Boeing arising from this crash.

The second crash of a Boeing 737 Max aircraft on Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET302 on 10 March 2019 bears alarming similarities to Flight JT610.

Immediately after the accident, James Healy-Pratt, Head of Aviation at Stewarts commented for The Times of London:

“If there is an evidential link between the Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines accidents, then Boeing can expect the worldwide fleet of 737 Max airliners to be grounded.”

In the days following James’s comments, the worldwide fleet of Boeing 737 Max aircraft was indeed grounded. The Ethiopian Transport Minister, Dagmawit Moges, announced that “clear similarities [are] noted between Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 and Indonesian Lion Air Flight 610, which would be the subject of further study during the investigation”.

The US, along with 80 other countries, have now grounded the Boeing 737 Max aircraft following concerns over the flight control system. The Department of Transportation and Federal Prosecutors in the US are investigating Boeing and the government aviation regulator.

Floyd Wisner commented:

“In more than 30 years of practising international aviation law, I have never before called for the grounding of an aircraft, but grounding of the Boeing 737 Max aircraft is completely warranted in this case.”

In late 2018, our International Attorney Group commenced litigation against Boeing on behalf of families of Lion Air victims in Federal Court in Chicago. This lawsuit alleges a combination of defective design and failure to warn pilots of problems with the Boeing 737 Max flight control systems.

Boeing is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Aviation insurers for Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines are based in London, UK.
