International Injury partners Chris Deacon and Cheryl Palmer-Hughes and senior associate James Griffin attended the Pan European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers (PEOPIL) conference on the 3 and 4 April 2025 in Kraków, Poland.

The event brought together some of the leading personal injury lawyers from across Europe to address current topics as well as facilitate networking among our European colleagues.

The first joint conference of PEOPIL’s RTA & NLG special interest groups

This event was the first time PEOPIL has brought both the annual road traffic accident and new lawyers special interest groups together in one venue, with conferences running on consecutive days. The first day covered current issues concerning the road traffic accident special interest group, with the second day handed over to the new lawyers’ group.

The joint conference was a huge success, presenting the opportunity to network and strengthen valuable relationships with other key international stakeholders in the injury sphere.

On the first day of the conference, Chris Deacon, a partner in the International Injury team, was welcomed as a speaker alongside Kay Taylor of Maggie Sargent & Associates. They discussed cross-border care claims and working with care experts to achieve the best outcome for clients.

The other speakers over the two days covered a wide range of jurisdictions and topics, including how jurisdictions across Europe deal with allegations of fraud or exaggeration, a comparison of the differences in fatal accident damages claims in different jurisdictions, how witness evidence is taken and presented, along with a tailored session on dealing with baby and infant bereavement.

This conference will bring together female lawyers from across Europe and North and South America to discuss the modern landscape of women in law in 2025.

The conference will be chaired in the afternoon by Cheryl Palmer-Hughes, PEOPIL executive board member, who will also be hosting a facilitated discussion on menopause and female health in the workplace.
