Stewarts proudly attended the launch of the report by the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on spinal cord injuries, ‘From Fragmented to Coordinated: Building a National Spinal Cord Injury Strategy’, on Monday, 27 October. The event, held at Portcullis House and hosted by Andy McDonald MP, brought together around 60 key stakeholders from across the spinal cord injury (SCI) community. Clare Salmon, Partner, reviews the event.
The launch of the report marked the culmination of the APPG’s inquiry over the summer, which gathered insights from NHS England, Spinal cord injury charities and individuals with lived experience. The event highlighted the need for continued progress.
The report lays out every stage of life after injury, from acute care and rehabilitation to community support, data and research. It sets out practical recommendations for a coordinated, person-centred approach to SCI care, so that everyone with a spinal cord injury can access high-quality care. This is an ambition that aligns closely with Stewarts’ commitment to supporting and securing the best possible future for those impacted by a spinal cord injury.
The report represents an important step toward change and is available to read in full here. You can also read our recent article on World Spinal Cord Injury Day to learn more about the challenges faced by people with spinal cord injuries and the importance of raising awareness.
