Stewarts has earned a place on the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index 2020. The firm has worked with Stonewall previously as part of their Diversity Champion programme.

The Stonewall UK Workplace Equality Index is a benchmarking tool for employers to measure their progress on lesbian, gay, bi and trans inclusion in the workplace.

Stewarts entering the index has allowed us to assess our progress to date with regards to LGBTQ+ inclusion. Our partnership with Stonewall will enable us to further understand and improve on employee experiences and demonstrates our continuing commitment to LGBTQ+ equality.

To be listed, participating employers must demonstrate their work in 10 areas of employment policy and practice. Staff from across the organisation must also complete an anonymous survey about their experiences of diversity and inclusion at work.

John Cahill, Managing Partner, commented:

“Our values echo that of Stonewall’s – that people perform better when they can be themselves in a workplace that is inclusive and equal. The Inclusion Committee and Diversity Champions are using the results of the index to help identify where we can continue to improve our policies and working practices to ensure that they are LGBTQ+ inclusive.”

Stewarts is a member of the Diversity Champions Programme, the leading employers’ programme for ensuring all LGBTQ+ staff are accepted without exception in the workplace.

Stonewall works with more than 850 organisations, all of whom share our core belief in the power of a workplace that is truly equal. Through these member organisations, Stonewall has helped to create inclusive and accepting environments for almost a quarter of the UK workforce.
