Expertise

Angus previously worked as a paralegal in the Tax Litigation and Resolution team where he assisted on tax litigation cases in the Tax Tribunals and tax-related commercial litigation cases in the High Court, acting for both high net worth individuals and corporate entities.

Experience

Angus has worked predominantly on large group action cases in the High Court brought by individuals arising out of their investments in film finance schemes. Most recently he assisted on claims brought by over 350 individuals against promoters, banks and advisors in relation to investments in film finance schemes operated by the Ingenious group of companies. The case was named in The Lawyer’s Top 20 Cases of 2022.

Angus also has experience assisting on proceedings in the Tax Tribunals in relation to both direct and indirect taxes, and on HMRC tax investigations negotiating tax settlements following enquiries made by HMRC into both individuals and corporates.

Career

Angus studied History at the University of Exeter graduating with first class honours. He subsequently completed the GDL and LPC at BPP University in Cambridge. Angus joined Stewarts in 2020 as a tax litigation paralegal and commenced his training contract with the firm in 2022.

Personal

Angus has a broad interest in art and antiques and enjoys countryside pursuits.
