Expertise

Ben qualified into the Divorce & Family department in October 2022 upon the conclusion of his training contract with the firm. Ben has particular experience in relation to high value financial cases upon marital or relationship breakdown, either through alternative dispute resolution or litigation.

Experience

  • ES v SS [2023]Ben acted for the husband in a financial remedies claim (c. £50m+) where the main issues considered by the Court related to valuations of private equity interests and tax risks, as well as departure from equality in the husband’s favour as a result of wealth generated prior to the marriage.
  • Ben acted in the reported case of WC v HC (Financial Remedies Agreement) [2022] EWFC 22, forming part of the team that acted for the husband in a case that dealt with the legal position in relation to agreed but unsigned nuptial agreements. The wife’s settlement offers vastly exceeded the court’s ultimate determination, representing an excellent and well-deserved outcome for our client.

Career

Ben graduated from the University of Leeds in 2016 before completing the Legal Practice Course the following year. Ben started working at Stewarts in November 2017 as a paralegal in the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Employment departments before commencing his training contract in 2020.
