Ed advises claimants and defendants on a range of English and multi-jurisdictional high-value disputes, including civil fraud (including crypto), asset recovery and enforcement, s.423 claims, freezing injunctions, business sales and acquisitions and other breach of contract and tort claims, as well as responding to US s.1782 disclosure applications.

His clients include foreign states, pension and sovereign wealth funds, financial institutions, corporates, retailers and high net worth individuals. He acts for clients globally, with particular experience in the Middle East and Africa.

Legal 500 describes Ed as “very experienced and technically excellent,” with interviewees describing him as “very diligent, with thorough grasp of the detail and overall strategy.” He is listed as a “key lawyer” in an “outstanding outfit”.

Experience

Cases in which Ed has advised include:

  • Acting for a Middle East sovereign wealth fund in multi-billion dollar fraud and asset recovery claims against more than 40 global defendants represented by many of the UK’s most prominent commercial litigation practices.
  • Advising a Singaporean financial services firm on recovering assets stolen by Serbian fraudsters.
  • Acting for the Federal Republic of Nigeria in its multi-billion dollar claims against JPMorgan for breach of Quincecare duty arising from an alleged fraudulent oil field scheme.
  • Advising a UK food manufacturer on a contractual supply dispute.
  • Bringing a claim for a German real estate firm against a global investment bank to recover sums allegedly paid out under duress.
  • Acting for aerospace conglomerate Triumph Group in relation to a share purchase agreement dispute against Fortune 500 company Precision Castparts Corporation (PCC).

Career

Ed trained and qualified at a US firm in London before working for several years at a top-ranked litigation firm. He relocated to Leeds in 2019, working from there and our London office. He was promoted to partner in 2025.

 

Personal

On the rare occasion that he is not ferrying his children around, Ed enjoys golf and cricket and has also caught the padel bug.
