Francesca is an experienced commercial litigation partner with a broad commercial practice. She has expertise in fraud, asset recovery and banking and financial services litigation, and has most recently been instructed to act against banks and financial institutions on Quincecare breach of mandate claims and in investment disputes.
Expertise
Francesca is a commercial litigator with more than 20 years’ experience advising clients on high-value, complex disputes. Her practice spans commercial litigation, contentious insolvency, asset recovery, professional negligence claims, contractual disputes, and shareholder and partnership disputes.
She is particularly recognised for her work acting for insolvency practitioners, including office-holders pursuing claims against former directors, professional advisers, service providers and financial institutions. Francesca regularly advises on claims involving allegations of misconduct, breach of duty, fraud and the recovery of assets.
Francesca represents clients at every stage of the dispute resolution process, from pre-action strategy through to trial. She also has significant experience in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation, and has helped many clients achieve commercially focused settlements without the need for a full trial.
A key area of expertise is litigation funding and insurance for high-value and complex claims. Francesca advises on alternative fee arrangements, third-party litigation funding and after-the-event (ATE) insurance. She works closely with funders and insurers to help clients manage litigation risk and secure cost-effective solutions throughout the life of a case.
Careers
Francesca trained at Manches LLP and joined Stewarts in 2009. She has worked in a job-share arrangement with her fellow partner Karen Hutchinson since 2016.

- Acting alongside Gibraltar counsel for joint liquidators in a Quincecare/breach of mandate claim against an international bank
- Acting in a high-value claim arising from breaches of exclusivity and confidence in relation to a major London property acquisition
- Acting for joint liquidators of an offshore investment fund in a negligence claim against auditors
- Advising a high-net-worth individual and related entities in relation to potential Quincecare/breach of mandate claims against two major UK retail banks
- Acting for claimant in breach of contract claim against a hedge fund for unpaid introducers’ fees
- Acting for a Middle East sovereign wealth fund in multi-billion-dollar fraud and asset recovery claims against more than 40 global defendants
- Acting for high-net-worth individuals in multiple professional negligence claims.
