Career
Prior to joining Stewarts in 2026, Iain was a partner and led the Brain Injury unit at Fletchers and is a solicitor advocate with Higher Rights of Audience in civil proceedings.

Publications and Media
Iain is author of the legal book A practical guide to stroke claims in clinical negligence (Law Brief Publishing).
Iain has written numerous articles and featured on several podcasts and contributes articles to PI Focus, and was a contributor to the 2016 Thalidomide Trust report Loss of earnings and pensions among UK Thalidomide survivors.
Iain also provides legal training to other lawyers with MBL Seminars.

Iain has extensive experience in achieving high-value settlements in complex medical negligence claims alongside leading and managing teams of lawyers.
He has secured many multi-million-pound settlements for his clients. Some examples include:
- £13.2m for a male who developed meningitis causing a severe brain injury and spinal cord injury, despite liability being denied
- £7.3m for a male who was paralysed at T3 level following failures in A&E to adequately immobilise an unstable thoracic fracture
- £7m for a male that sustained a brain injury following a stroke caused by surgical negligence
- £4.85m for a female who sustained a spinal cord injury causing paraplegia at T4 level following failures in the neurosurgery unit to monitor infection and a spinal abscess
- £3.75m for a male that had a brain injury caused by an infection following negligence from the plastic surgery department
- £2.5m for a male who had a stroke following failures to diagnose and treat a mini-stroke, despite liability being denied.
