Having trained with Stewarts, and worked as a paralegal in the Competition Litigation team prior to that, Ryan has worked on several high-value and complex competition claims.

Ryan has particular expertise in cross-border matters involving infringements of competition law throughout the EU and across the globe. He assisted the team acting for Swedish-State owned energy company Vattenfall, a case that established leading case law on the test for jurisdiction against a so-called anchor defendant.

Experience

  • Acting for Swedish-State owned energy company Vattenfall in its long-running dispute against major power cables manufacturers arising from the high voltage power cables cartel.
  • Acting for a group of major household name retailers in their respective multi-million pound claims against Visa and Mastercard for damages relating to multilateral interchange fees.
  • Advising a major EU-based textile manufacturer in relation to a substantial claim for damages.

Career

Ryan joined the firm in July 2017 as a paralegal in the Competition Litigation department. Ryan trained with the firm, qualifying into the Commercial Litigation team in 2021 and subsequently joining the Competition Litigation department as an Associate in mid-2022.
