Sean acts for sophisticated corporate claimants (including hedge funds, financial institutions and pension funds) in complex financial disputes and fraud work. He presently acts for the 112 financial institutions claiming against Tesco Plc in respect of its £263m accounting mis-statements.

Sean’s work has widely been recognised by The Legal 500 and Chambers, which say he is “good, smart and always looking for angles to improve his client’s case”, “inspires confidence”, and is “incredibly hard-working”. Sean was one of The Lawyer’s 2008 Hot 100 lawyers.

Experience

Sean has recently completed a €500m complex derivatives claim and a £150m civil fraud both with substantial claimant recoveries for our clients. Sean presently leads the Stewarts team acting in the high-profile claims against Tesco Plc.

Career

After a year working in Japan, Sean joined Baker & McKenzie (working in London and Sydney) in 1993. In 2004, Sean co-founded Masseys LLP, which obtained wide-recognition for financial disputes work before that practice was incorporated into Stewarts in 2010.

Personal

Sean enjoys mountain walking/climbing. He has led groups in the UK and tackled other routes including in the Cuillins, the Atlas mountains and the Caucasus.
