Joao has advised clients in disputes in a range of sectors including transportation, energy and construction, under major arbitration rules. He has a civil and common law background and has experience handling disputes in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Joao’s previous experience also includes commercial litigation, regulatory disputes and white-collar crime.

- Representing two Central American investors against one of Latin America’s largest countries in a US$400 + million treaty claim (bilateral investment treaty/UNCITRAL Rules)
Career
Joao qualified in Chile, where he practised with a leading dispute-resolution-only firm. In the United Kingdom, he has gained experience in top-ranked disputes firms.
Joao obtained his law degrees in the United Kingdom (LLM, UCL) and Chile (LLB, Universidad de Chile).
