Applications are now open for the 2026 Daniel Turnbull Memorial Scholarship. It will be awarded to an individual who is disabled, as defined under the Equality Act 2010, and will support the recipient to complete the LLM Legal Practice (SQE1&2) at any of the University of Law’s UK campuses.
Danny’s story
The Stewarts Foundation first announced the annual Daniel Turnbull Memorial Scholarship with The University of Law in 2019, in memory of the firm’s partner Danny Turnbull, who died in 2017.
In addition to working at the firm, Danny was a trustee of the Back Up Trust, a spinal cord injury charity that Stewarts has supported for many years. Danny, a paraplegic himself following a car accident when he was very young, was a committed advocate for people with spinal cord injuries. He even played an instrumental role in opening the London to Paris cycle ride to hand cyclists when he undertook the challenge in 2012.
In recognition of his advocacy work, Danny was posthumously awarded the David Norman Cup for Inspirational Person with a spinal cord injury in November 2017.
