Stewarts has once again been recognised in The Times Best Law Firms 2027 report, marking the ninth consecutive year the firm has been included since the rankings were established and reinforcing its position as the market-leading disputes-only law firm.

The firm was recognised in three categories: Commercial dispute resolution, Family and Personal injury and clinical negligence, reflecting the breadth of its specialist disputes expertise and its role in some of the most complex, high-value and high-profile matters in the UK and internationally.

Over the past year, Stewarts has continued to play a leading role in a number of landmark and market-defining disputes.

In Commercial Litigation, the firm has acted for an overseas state body in a £1.2 billion corruption claim arising from the alleged bribery of its former Director General in relation to investment transactions spanning multiple jurisdictions and more than two decades.

In family law, Stewarts secured a Supreme Court victory for Mr Standish in the landmark Standish v Standish case, which upheld the largest ever reduction to an English divorce award and provided important clarification on the treatment of non-matrimonial assets on divorce. The firm has also continued to lead innovation in dispute resolution with the launch of its pioneering Children Arbitration Protocol, believed to be the first initiative of its kind in England and Wales. Developed to reduce delay and place children’s welfare at the centre of decision-making, the protocol reflects the firm’s commitment to helping families resolve disputes more effectively and achieve better long-term outcomes.

The firm’s Personal Injury and Medical Negligence teams have also continued to secure life-changing results for clients and their families. During the past year, Stewarts recovered £39.3 million in compensation in a complex spinal injury medical negligence claim and £25 million for a client rendered paraplegic following a road traffic collision. The firm also launched the largest fatal accident claim in English legal history on behalf of the family of former Leicester City Chairman Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, seeking £2.15 billion in damages against helicopter manufacturer Leonardo following the 2018 crash.

Managing partner, Stuart Dench said:

“We are proud to be recognised by The Times for the ninth consecutive year since these rankings were established.

“This recognition reflects the quality of our people, the trust our clients place in us and the strength of our specialist disputes-only model.

“From landmark commercial litigation and precedent-setting family cases to life-changing injury claims, we are focused on achieving exceptional outcomes in the most complex and significant disputes. At the same time, we continue to innovate, whether through new approaches to dispute resolution or by finding better ways to help clients navigate challenges that extend far beyond the dispute itself.”

The Times Best Law Firms rankings, compiled by Statista, are based on recommendations from solicitors, barristers and legal professionals across England, Wales and Scotland. Firms are recognised for excellence across a range of business, public and private client practice areas.
