We have hired insurance litigation partner Aaron Le Marquer to launch a new Policyholder Disputes department, focusing on high-value and complex disputes with insurers.
This new department will represent policyholders facing insured losses in a range of sectors, building on our experience in claimant-focused litigation.
Aaron has over 18 years’ experience within the insurance law industry, both in the UK and across Asia, including two years in-house with a global insurer. He has acted for clients in the financial services, entertainment, hospitality, retail, logistics, manufacturing and sports sectors. Most recently, Aaron led the Products and Environmental Risks practice at a leading London insurance boutique, where he established himself as a leading practitioner in Covid-19 business interruption disputes.
Recent cases Aaron has acted on include representing the UK’s largest pub owner in Stonegate v MS Amlin, and a group of over 200 restaurant owners in Policyholders v China Taiping, both relating to Covid-19 business interruption coverage.
Whilst working in Asia, Aaron was ranked across the Chambers Asia Pacific guides and AsiaLaw Leading Lawyers; he is also ranked in Who’s Who Legal. He is a leading media commentator on policyholder issues and in particular on Covid-19 business interruption insurance coverage.
Senior Associate James Breese also joins Stewarts with Aaron.
