Lee Ellis is an Associate and Barrister who has joined Stewarts’ Tax Litigation department from HMRC’s Solicitor’s Office, where he was a Senior Lawyer.
David Pickstone, Head of Tax Litigation, commented:
“We are delighted to welcome Lee to the team given his vast experience in dealing with HMRC matters. He will undoubtedly provide an excellent source of guidance to our clients involved in tax disputes. Investments with a tax benefit and tax avoidance continue to be on the government’s agenda for review. Increased hostility to what were previously considered to be legitimate ways of reducing the tax bills of individuals and corporations shows no sign of cooling.”
Lee has extensive experience dealing with both contentious and non-contentious tax matters. He managed large scale and complex tax disputes, including group litigation, involving large scale corporate and high net worth taxpayers before Tax Tribunals, the High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme and European courts. In particular, Lee is well-versed in worldwide tax disputes involving issues of EU law and consideration of international tax treaties.
