In September 2024, Stewarts joined the legal panel for Meningitis Now, the only charity dedicated to fighting meningitis in the UK. Over their 30-year history, Meningitis Now has invested more than £12.7m into early-stage research.
To mark the firm’s partnership with the charity, a team from the firm took on the challenge of each running 50 kilometres in 50 days (16 September 2024 to 5 November 2024) to raise money and awareness of the disease. Team members Amy Goldman and Florence Rhodes authored this summary.
Our fundraising
Amy led evening runs to different locations around central London every Tuesday during the 50 days. The team wore eye catching orange Meningitis Now t-shirts to help raise awareness of the charity’s lifesaving activities.
Over the course of the challenge the team was joined on their routes by fellow fundraisers from Stokes Case Management, Outer Temple Chambers and 12 King’s Bench Walk, who took on the challenge of running 5km to boost awareness and donations.
Mark Jefferies, Corporate Partnerships Manager and Mary Garley, Community Ambassador from Meningitis Now visited our London office to speak about the work they do for the charity as well as sharing their personal experiences of meningitis. Our team was spurred on in their fundraising efforts after learning about the importance of raising awareness of meningitis symptoms and the difference it can make if the disease is identified and treated promptly.
On 5 November 2024, the team also held a bake sale with bakes inspired by Meningitis Now’s orange colours. The fundraising was very successful and the bakes gave the runners some extra energy for their final Tuesday group run!
We are proud to announce our team has raised over £1,500 for Meningitis Now through undertaking this challenge. These funds will go towards vital research, raising awareness and providing support to those affected by meningitis.
