Legal data platform Solomonic has unveiled its latest dataset, the Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence module, developed in partnership with Stewarts. As with all Solomonic releases, this new dataset will expand the insights available to litigators.

Stewarts has collaborated with Solomonic since 2018, advising on the platform’s cutting-edge analysis of publicly available court and judgment data. A pilot team from the firm has tested this new module, and further developments are likely to follow based on Stewarts’ feedback in the post-launch period.

Julian Chamberlayne, Head of International Injury and Aviation at Stewarts commented: “This new module is a powerful tool for practitioners specialising in complex personal injury and clinical negligence claims. Having access to Solomonic’s large, real-time dataset, in addition to our own outcomes data, enhances our team’s ability to provide clients with data-informed advice. It also helps our lawyers stay ahead of industry trends and developments.”

Edward Bird, Solomonic CEO added: “The launch of this module signals yet another significant step forward in our mission to empower litigators with actionable insights. With this module, practitioners are no longer guessing about case trends, awards or judicial behaviour – they’re making informed decisions that can directly influence case outcomes and client satisfaction.

“We started working with Stewarts way back in 2018, before we launched our Commercial Court data. We are delighted to work so closely again with them to tailor this module to the real needs of practitioners in complex personal injury and clinical negligence claims.”

What does the new module offer?

In personal injury cases defendant insurance companies typically handle the claims process, with employers and local authorities frequently involved in workplace accidents and public space incidents. Solomonic’s data also surfaces over 5,000 clinical negligence claims issued against NHS bodies, of which more than 1,800 are still active.

The Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence Module enables real-time tracking of new claims and ongoing legal proceedings, supporting several key applications:

  • Market intelligence – Identify market trends, uncover new business opportunities and leverage personal injury alerts delivered daily. This feature allows both large and small firms to stay informed on emerging claims, monitor existing clients and respond quickly to new cases.
  • Client expectation management – With data on timelines and outcomes, practitioners can set realistic expectations for clients, reduce uncertainties and draw on case histories to better explain case progression.
  • Extensive expert, counsel and judicial insight – Due diligence in one place, enabling lawyers to review judges’ prior rulings, offering insight into trial tendencies and preferences, along with judicial comments on expert witnesses.

Stewarts at the head of legal service innovation

Comprising some of the UK’s leading disputes lawyers, Stewarts has consistently pioneered in the litigation and arbitration community, both through bringing groundbreaking cases and innovative use of technologies and case management processes.

Stewarts has been at the forefront of changes to the conduct of legal disputes in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, acting for the claimant in the first virtual trial in the commercial court in March 2020. We also work regularly with organisations including the Leeds Law Society that monitor and advice practitioners on generative AI, the metaverse, blockchain and other evolving technologies.

Our teams have unrivalled experience in offering innovative costs arrangements to clients. Having identified after the event (ATE) insurance as a priority need for many commercial disputes claimants, we launched Stewarts Litigate to provide rapid access to comprehensive ATE insurance at pre-agreed market leading rates. In 2023 we announced the launch of our Costs and Funding Disputes service, leveraging the expertise of our litigation, costs and insurance specialists to advise litigants, funders, firms and insurers.
