Each year, our lawyers and staff submit nominations for a chosen charity to support as our Charity of the Year. Following a firmwide vote, FareShare was selected for 2025.

The Stewarts Foundation will make a donation to support FareShare’s work to redistribute food waste across the UK. Despite growing numbers of people struggling to afford to feed themselves and their families, four million tonnes of good-to-eat food typically goes to waste in the UK food industry every year. FareShare works to combat both waste and hunger by providing much-needed food supplies to charities including homeless shelters, before school breakfast clubs, older people’s lunch clubs and community cafes.

FareShare’s Corporate Partnerships Officer Maria spoke at Stewarts’ offices about the work done by the charity and how this donation will support its efforts.

Stuart Dench, Managing Partner at Stewarts, comments:

“FareShare’s work in London, Leeds and across the UK is truly impressive. The charity is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors and is made up of 18 independent organisations. Together the group redistributes high quality surplus food to thousands of charities and community groups. We are delighted to support FareShare as our Charity of the Year 2025.”

Kirsty Ford, Head of Fundraising at FareShare said:

“We are so grateful to Stewarts for choosing FareShare as their charity of the year. The Stewarts Foundation’s generous donation will make a huge difference to ensuring that good quality surplus food goes to our network of over 8,000 charities across the UK, including after school and breakfast clubs, hospices, and homelessness shelters, instead of going to waste. All these groups are all working harder than ever to provide people with essential support services, bringing them together around food, strengthening communities and changing lives. Thank you for helping FareShare make the food go further.”

FareShare: fighting hunger, tackling food waste

One in six people in communities across the UK are going hungry, including four million children. At the same time, the equivalent of 10 billion perfectly good meals go to waste each year. FareShare’s mission is to strengthen communities by fighting hunger and tackle food waste by redistributing surplus food to charities.

FareShare works with the food industry to save quality food which would otherwise go to waste and redistributes it to 8,500 charities across the whole of the UK. Their network of 35 Regional Centres transform the surplus food into parcels and meals to be transported to charities resulting in FareShare food feeding almost 1 million people every year.

FareShare provides a crucial gateway to services that help individuals rebuild their lives, offering them hope and the tools they need to thrive. Supporting FareShare means being part of a movement that believes no good food should go to waste and no one should go hungry, reflecting Stewarts’ commitment to supporting the most vulnerable people in our society.
