Stewarts’ Learning and Development team has been recognised at the recent Learning at Work Week Impact Awards for its innovative distance learning programme during Learning at Work Week in May 2020. The team scooped the ‘Findcourses.co.uk Impact Award for Innovation in Learning & Development’ run by the Campaign for Learning.
Learning at Work Week came just two months into the UK’s first national lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic when many companies were still adapting to homeworking arrangements.
Despite the challenges of switching its proposed schedule to being online, the team provided a full week of training aligned to the firm’s core values. Training was centred around time management, diversity, delegation skills, effective marketing and business development, dealing with difficult conversations, how to use Zoom, and reducing stress and improving performance. More information on the training provided can be found here.
Fiona Marshall, Holly Stapleton-Walshe and Shelly Ramudu from the Learning and Development team also encouraged staff to share their personal lockdown learning with any news skills that had been learnt during their spare time.
The award organisers, Campaign for Learning, had the following comment on Stewarts’ entry:
“We are delighted to award Stewarts with the findcourses.co.uk Impact Learning Award for their innovative Learning at Work Week activities in 2020.
“Stewarts saw an opportunity with Learning at Work Week to re-introduce learning as a fun, engaging experience. We were incredibly impressed by their ambition: launching an innovative new platform, introducing competitions into their promotion and working hard to try and change the internal perception of learning from something mandatory to something continuous, flexible and exciting.
“By encouraging colleagues to share their own lockdown learning journeys of baking, woodwork, crafts and by introducing a more varied approach to the types of courses offered, Stewarts helped their team members feel more engaged, more confident using online tools and saw a dramatic increase in participants for their online sessions.”
This award was given just a year after the firm’s Learning and Development team was recognised in the firm’s ‘Best Companies to Work For’ entry, illustrating the firm’s commitment to developing its people.
