Stewarts has been listed in the family, commercial dispute resolution, and personal injury and clinical negligence categories in The Times’ Best Law Firms 2020, with our commercial disputes team taking a coveted top three place.

The Best Law Firms list is arrived at solely through ballots cast by lawyers themselves.

The Times asked specialists in a range of fields a simple question, “Who would you recommend if you weren’t recommending your own firm”.

200 firms in England and Wales and 40 in Scotland were listed in the directory across 26 categories, with a top three being selected for each category.

The firm’s work on the Tesco litigation, recent Bitcoin case, as well as the MasterCard interchange fees case was mentioned for our commercial disputes team.

The Tax Litigation and Investigations team’s cases arising from film schemes including Eclipse, Ingenious Film Partners 2, Invicta 43, Scotts Atlantic Distributors and Zeus were mentioned in the piece.

Our Divorce and Family team are also listed for the family category, with their work in XW v XH particularly noted.

For personal injury and clinical negligence, the firm’s work in the case of Grace McGowan was listed as a stand out piece, as well as the recent settlement of the Alton Tower’s Smiler rollercoaster crash. The firm’s overseas injury practice was also mentioned including the cases of Jules Bianchi, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter stuntwoman Olivia Jackson and Terry Madden. For the Aviation team, their cases of Shoreham, Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines are also noted.
