Stewarts achieves outstanding results in the Chambers 2020 UK guide with 15 practice areas recognised and 49 individual rankings across the firm.

The firm’s injury groups all hold top rankings with Personal Injury, International Injury, Aviation and Clinical Negligence all maintaining their bandings. In total, our injury group lawyers hold 26 rankings across our two offices.

The London Personal Injury team is also praised, “They’re organised for the patients and all over their cases. They are constantly in touch with clients, and especially for bigger cases they seem to sort everything out much quicker than any other firms”. About the Leeds Personal Injury team, the guide says, “The team is top notch. They offer a fantastic service and they get great results”.

The Clinical Negligence team is praised by one source, “Everything is immaculately prepared and every case is given a vast amount of attention”. A client also comments, “The team have been very patient with me, explaining everything clearly so that I understand what is going on at all times.”

Our Divorce and Family teams maintain their Band 1 ranking, and have 10 individuals ranked across London and Leeds. The guide comments about the London team, “Obviously they are interested in representing clients in a professional and successful way, but it is the manner and compassion they use that makes them really good to work with.” About the Leeds team, the guide comments, “high quality across the bands of experience is one of the strengths of Stewarts.”

The firm’s Commercial Litigation practice maintains its Band 1 ranking in Yorkshire and Band 3 ranking in London, and now holds nine individual rankings across the various specialist areas. The teams are described as having, “massive technical expertise and case management skills”, and being, “very industrious lawyers who are good team players and who are really motivated to get a result for their clients”.

The Fraud team improved its ranking to Band 2, and described as being “commercially minded”, with “…the client’s best interests at heart. The Commercial and Corporate specialist team improved its ranking to Band 3, praised as having “…. such huge success in the litigation market,” and being “…. great at what they do”.

The Banking Litigation team maintains its Band 2 ranking, with one source commenting, “I can’t rate them highly enough – when it comes to banking litigation, they’re a go-to.”

Our Competition Litigation team maintains its Band 2 ranking, with Kate Pollock mentioned in particular. The guide comments, “The lawyers guide us in a way that makes the process manageable. We need to understand what we are doing and why, and in all strategic decisions we need to be involved. It is up to them to explain to us how it works, and they do that really well.”

Our Employment team is ranked in Band 3 for its Senior Executive work, with sources praising the team’s “impressive handling of litigation in difficult circumstances.”

In our Tax Litigation and Investigations team, David Pickstone maintains his Band 3 ranking, being described as “high-quality” and “excellent all round”, whilst Lee Ellis is listed for the first time, described as “very pragmatic and has excellent strategic litigation sense”.

Philippa Charles maintains her Band 4 individual ranking for International Arbitration, praised as being “both tactically and commercially astute.”
