Expertise

Nick leads and advises on major international fraud and corruption investigations and related claims for large public and private sector organisations, with expertise in asset recovery and enforcement.

He also has significant experience of complex, high-value commercial disputes, including corporate and shareholder disputes, actions against directors, contractual and supply chain disputes, commercial fraud claims and applications for injunctive relief. He also has experience advising on live procurement projects that have run into difficulty and managing the associated legal and commercial risks.

Nick acts for a broad range of clients, including foreign states, international manufacturers and corporations, retailers and high-net-worth individuals. He has advised clients on complex cross-border disputes globally, with experience in Japan, the Middle East and the United States.

Experience

Selected cases in which Nick has acted include:

  • Acting for a national pension fund of a Middle Eastern state in multi-billion-dollar fraud and asset recovery claims against more than 40 defendants across multiple jurisdictions. The claim was listed as one of The Lawyer’s Top 20 cases of 2025 and was the longest ever Commercial Court trial.
  • Advising on an ultra-high-value (£1bn+) complex commercial dispute for a global IT systems supplier.
  • Advising the UK subsidiary of a US-based global engineering parts supplier on an investigation into fraudulent activities by a company director.
  • Advising a major shareholder in unfair prejudice proceedings arising from exclusion from the company.
  • Pursuing a multi-billion-dollar cartel damages claim, a complex competition dispute that was heard over more than 30 days.

Recognition

Nick is ranked in both Legal 500 and Chambers.

He is described in the directories as “a very commercial and strategically focused litigator with a keen eye for detail” and “a savvy litigator with a bright future ahead of him.”

Career

Nick trained at Pinsent Masons LLP and qualified in the commercial litigation team there in 2008. After eight years at the firm, Nick joined Stewarts in August 2014 and has been a partner since 2019.
