The annual Back Up Ball in aid of the Back Up Trust returned this year with 400 guests attending a heroes and villains themed ball at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole hotel.

Guests came from all over the UK, including volunteers, people who have been supported by Back Up, healthcare professionals and corporate supporters.

Stewarts hosted five tables at this year’s event, including a table for former Stewarts partner Danny Turnbull’s family. Danny sadly passed away earlier this year following a long battle with cancer.

At this year’s ball, Danny was posthumously awarded with the David Norman Cup for an Inspirational Person with a spinal cord injury. The award was collected on Danny’s behalf by his wife Susie and close friend Paul Paxton.

Other awards presented on the evening were Volunteer of the Year, Top Fundraiser, Young Person, Nurse/Carer of the Year and Buddy of the Year.

The evening’s events included a table tennis tournament, with Stewarts’ Charles Edwards reaching the final after knocking out some of his colleagues. His success was short lived, however, as he was beaten by Robin Hood.

With fundraising activities including a raffle, pass the parcel game and auctions the event raised over £25,000 for the Back Up Trust.
