Jane Pyrah has joined Stewarts’ Personal Injury team in Leeds. Jane joins from Irwin Mitchell, where she was a partner in the Serious Injury team based in Newcastle.
Since 2004, Jane has worked with clients (both children and adults) who have sustained life changing injuries, usually as a result of accidents on the road or in the workplace. The majority of Jane’s clients have sustained acquired brain or spinal cord injuries; she has also regularly acted for individuals who have suffered serious orthopaedic injuries and has significant experience of acting in cases involving upper and lower limb amputations.
Jane concludes a number of multi-million pound settlements each year. She also has considerable experience with clients that have lacked capacity to manage their own finances, property and affairs, and with professional deputies appointed by the Court of Protection.
Jane qualified as a solicitor into the Serious Injury team at Irwin Mitchell in 2009. Jane is client focused, has an empathetic approach, prioritises rehabilitation from the outset and develops close working relationships to help to secure the very best outcomes.
Jane has been ranked by Chambers & Partners in the UK guide for seven years: referees say that she “is a real star”, “an excellent and very client centred solicitor”, and “a very determined litigator”. Her work has also been recognised in The Legal 500.
Our Personal Injury department only acts for clients who have sustained serious life-changing injury, in particular spinal cord injuries, brain injuries and amputations. In 2022 the team helped 51 clients secure damages awards of £1 million or more; together those 51 clients received more than £240 million in compensation. Following Jane’s arrival the department at Stewarts includes 15 partners of which five are based in Leeds.
