Carly has significant experience representing clients with catastrophic injuries. She investigates claims from the preliminary stages throughout the litigation process to final settlements. Carly has acted on cases arising out of delays in diagnosing cauda equina syndrome and spinal abscesses along with failures in treatment resulting in the development of osteomyelitis and pressure injuries. She also has experience investigating and settling fatal claims.

Carly also deals with the investigation of claims involving multiple defendants and has experience of navigating the issues that these cases can involve.

  • Lead lawyer in the settlement of cauda equina syndrome cases involving complex liability issues and issues of contributory negligence.
  • Obtained a six-figure settlement in a fatal claim relating to the delay in diagnosing and treating a spinal haematoma.
  • Investigated and settled pressure sore and osteomyelitis cases for clients with pre-existing spinal cord injuries.
  • Assisted with the quantification of cases resulting in seven-figure settlements.

Career

Carly started her legal career at Stewarts as a paralegal in 2010, following which she completed her training contract before qualifying into the Clinical Negligence team. She was promoted to Senior Associate in 2023.

Personal

Carly enjoys hill walking in the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District as often as time allows, being outside and enjoying the countryside. She also spends her evenings spinning and attempting to dance, with varying levels of success.
