Partner Lisette Dupre and Associates Felicia Munde and Alice Russell from our Leeds Divorce and Family team attended this year’s prestigious Lexis Nexis Family Law Awards 2023 at the Park Plaza on Westminster Bridge in London. Associate Felicia Munde was shortlisted for the ‘Young Solicitor of the Year’ award and was “highly commended” by the judges for demonstrating that she has the skills and knowledge to become a leading family lawyer of the future.

Comedian Jon Culshaw presented the awards ceremony. Sir Nicholas Mostyn, one of the greatest family lawyers of our times, was also in attendance to receive the Cornwell Award for Outstanding Contribution to Family Law. During his acceptance speech, Sir Nicholas Mostyn reflected on his judicial career as a High Court judge, having delivered hundreds of judgements over more than two decades. He also spoke candidly about his experience of living with Parkinson’s disease. He congratulated the winners and those shortlisted for their remarkable contributions to family law.

Felicia said: “It was an honour to be a part of this year’s celebration and to be recognised as highly commended within the ‘Young Solicitor of the Year’ category among so many other inspiring and talented family lawyers.”

Felicia advises on all aspects of private family law and has a particular focus on international children law, including leave to remove and abduction cases, wardship, residence and contact issues. Felicia also works on complex and high-value financial matters for separating and unmarried couples following family breakdown. She is passionate about adopting a child-focused approach and has an unwavering desire to achieve the best possible outcomes for her clients.

About the Family Law Awards

The LexisNexis Family Law Awards are one of the most accomplished awards ceremonies within the family law arena. The awards bring the family law community together to celebrate excellence and recognise its vital contribution to society. The Family Law Awards were launched in 2011 and are now in their twelfth year.

Practitioners are selected on merit by a judging panel made up of the heads of the Family Law Bar Association, Resolution and the Association of Lawyers for Children, alongside Family Law editors and many others. The Young Solicitor of the Year category is targeted at practitioners with under five years post post-qualification experience who the judges believe have stood out from their peers by demonstrating they have the skills and knowledge to become leading family lawyers of the future.
