Stewarts has achieved carbon neutral status for FY 21/22, having been awarded the prestigious Planet Mark certification.

Planet Mark Business Certification is the internationally recognised symbol of sustainability that reports on carbon footprint.

Planet Mark has verified that Stewarts has completed the requirements set by the internationally recognised PAS2060 standard, which involved producing an actionable carbon reduction plan and purchasing carbon offsetting credits to the value of the firm’s footprint. The accolade is a milestone achievement for the firm as it embarks on its sustainability journey.

The carbon neutral status was secured by offsetting emissions generated by electricity and gas usage, business travel, waste, water and paper usage.

Stuart Dench, Managing Partner, said: “The Planet Mark certification reflects Stewarts’ steadfast commitment to making a positive impact on the planet and our society, through the reduction of our carbon emissions year on year.

“This is just one important aspect of our firmwide strategy to prioritise responsible business practices in everything we do.”

Leena Nangia, Chief Strategy Officer, added: “This is the first step on our journey towards achieving net-zero emissions. We’re committed to intensifying our approach to sustainability and ensuring we have the right plans in place to reduce our impact on the environment.”

Stewarts will continue to work with Planet Mark as the firm continues to monitor and measure its carbon footprint, with plans for FY22/23 already underway.
