Ed has advised on numerous cases involving jurisdictional issues, overseas assets, corporate entities, significant pensions and trusts. His clients typically include professionals, entrepreneurs and business owners (or their spouses).
Ed is recognised as a Star Associate by Chambers, with sources referring to him, in 2018, as “a strong performer who is exceptionally bright” and “sensible and meticulous in his approach” and, in 2019, as somebody who “makes sure he gets the best outcome for his clients whichever way it is needed, whether it is negotiation, mediation, or court proceedings”. Ed is also recognised by The Legal 500 for his exceptional client care skills and features as a Prominent Figure in the Citywealth Leaders List.
Ed has been involved in various High Court matters, some of which have been reported. He has recently advised clients on cases involving shareholder disputes, disputed jurisdiction and significant pension assets.
Ed studied in St Andrews and then York before training and spending almost seven years at Withers LLP in London followed by over eight years at Mills & Reeve LLP in Leeds.
Ed is a member of Resolution and is the immediate past Chair of the West & North Yorkshire region. He is an assessor for Resolution’s Specialist Accreditation programme.
Ed is a Collaborative lawyer and a member of the CFL North Committee. He is also a family mediator.
Ed has had numerous articles published in leading professional journals including Resolution Review, New Law Journal, Family Law Journal and the Law Society Gazette. He has also co-authored the monthly Finance and Divorce Update for Family Law Week.
Ed enjoys most sports (in particular, swimming and golfing), food (both cooking and eating) and taking any opportunity to travel.
