Stewarts has had 11 lawyers ranked in the 2019 Spear’s 500 guide, with 10 family lawyers and one employment lawyer being recommended. All nine London based family partners are listed within the guide, more than any other firm.

Stewarts has three partners listed within the Top Ten family lawyers. The department is described as holding “supremacy within family law”. Head of Department Stephen Foster is listed and credited with ‘masterminding’ the department to its present position. Former Spear’s Family Lawyer of the Year Emma Hatley has “assailed the old guard”, and Helen Ward is lauded for her “eminence” within the market.

All other London family partners are recommended. Debbie Chism is described as “one of the most respected family solicitors in London”, and Sam Longworth is listed as a “fresh face” and described as a “skilled litigator”.

Toby Atkinson is described as “one of Stewarts’ top talents”. “Very intelligent” Richard Hogwood and “top rated” Matthew Humphries are also included, as is our newest family partner, Carly Kinch. Recent winner of the Future Leader in Private Client award at the Spear’s Wealth Management Awards, Lucy Gould, is also listed in the category as a “young turk”.

In addition to the firm’s family lawyers, Tim Spillane from our Employment department is included as a Top Recommended employment lawyer. Tim is described as “tenacious and tough” and is listed for his expertise in acting within the financial and professional services sectors.

The Spear’s 500 became the world’s first comprehensive guide to the top private client advisers, wealth managers and HNW service providers when it was published last year.

The Spear’s 500 covers the top 500 individuals across the entire spectrum of wealth management and private client practice in the UK from private banking to philanthropy, family offices to family lawyers.
