The government has announced that it will implement a Coronavirus job retention scheme under which employees can be classified as ‘Furloughed Workers’.

Under the scheme, the government will commit to reimbursing 80% of Furloughed Workers’ wage costs up to a cap of £2,500 per month (broadly £30,000 a year).

The information provided by the government so far is limited, and we expect further information about the operation of the scheme in the days and weeks ahead.

Businesses heavily reliant on contractors will need to be alive to and deal with changes that will affect them.
