The latest edition of the Chambers Global Guide of leading lawyers and firms around the world includes more department rankings for Stewarts in any previous year.

Our Competition Litigation, Commercial Litigation, Policyholder Disputes, International Arbitration and Tax Litigation and Resolution teams are ranked in the new Global guide. Chambers also acknowledges the standing of our partners with 12 individual lawyer rankings.

International Arbitration

All three partners in our team – Sherina Petit (Head of International Arbitration and India Practice), Dan Wilmot and Alejandro Garcia – receive Chambers Global rankings, and the team is ranked for Commercial Arbitration. The guide says: “Stewarts has a dynamic practice with a notable offering in commercial arbitration” and “acts on behalf of an impressive roster of companies, funds and high net worth individuals, alongside acting for sovereign states.” Chambers recognises the team’s work for clients in Africa, India and Latin America.

Testimonials say Sherina “is exceptional. Her mastery over the facts and law makes her a formidable lawyer. She makes it easy for a tribunal to come to the meat of the matter and make a clear determination.” Dan “is an excellent strategic and commercial lawyer. He understands the legal landscape of the case but he is able to home in and give clients the advice that they need.” Alejandro “provides state of the art counselling. He is aware of the current trends of the case law. Clients have always been very happy with his service and he is really willing to give his 100%.”

Our team was shortlisted for International Arbitration Team of the Year at the Chambers UK Awards 2025, “honouring the finest legal teams in the UK”.

Sherina is also recognised in the India Dispute Resolution section of Chambers Global 2025, as well as in the corresponding sections of Chambers UK and the India Dispute Resolution (International Firms) (Expertise Based Abroad) category in Chambers Asia Pacific.

Daniel is also ranked in Who’s Who Legal Global Elite, one of only five lawyers in the UK to be included, and also recognised by Chambers UK for International Commercial Arbitration.

Alejandro is recognised by Chambers UK for International Commercial Arbitration and by Who’s Who Legal as a Global Leader.

Competition

Head of Competition Kate Pollock maintains her Band 1 ranking this year, and is joined in the individual listings by fellow partner Inge Forster. The team as a whole is ranked in the Competition Law: Private Enforcement (Claimant) section; testimonials say “Stewarts thoroughly researches its cases and is on top of the details of complex issues. They are able to condense lots of relevant aspects into key decision-making parameters for their clients.”

“Kate is absolutely brilliant. She is great with clients, absolutely diligent, reactive and a great team leader. Her diligence trickles down to the team,” sources say, while Inge “is a highly experienced, knowledgeable and professional lawyer… she is extremely diligent and a sound commercial litigator.”

Commercial Litigation

Our team is once again recognised in the Commercial and Corporate Litigation section, while department co-head Lucy Ward is ranked as an individual. “Lucy doesn’t miss a trick. She gives really clear and thoughtful advice,” interviewees reported.

“Stewarts has a sizeable presence in contentious corporate matters and the ability to handle disputes with big-ticket values,” according to the 2025 guide. “The London team has a solid reputation for taking the lead on behalf of claimants in large-scale shareholder actions while also assisting clients with breach of contract claims and other commercial disputes.”

Policyholder Disputes

Chambers Global recognises our team, founded in 2022, for the first time this year with a listing alongside teams with more than ten years in the rankings. “Stewarts is recognised for its talented policyholder practice and its team has a proven track record in high-profile business interruption claims. The group advises clients in both national and international matters, with notable work in the hospitality and entertainment sectors,” the guide says.

Head of Policyholder Disputes Aaron Le Marquer and partner James Breese also receive individual acknowledgment. “Aaron is incredibly effective and is brilliant with clients,” testimonials say. “His knowledge of case law, wording and positions is second to none.” Sources say James “is commercial in his approach, but his advice is rooted in a strong depth of knowledge in the insurance sphere.”

Tax Litigation and Resolution

Our Tax team also receives a departmental ranking for the first time this year, while department head David Pickstone is joined by partner Giles Salmond in the individual ranks. Stewarts’ Contentious Tax listing notes “the department has a broad team of tax litigators supporting corporate and individual clients in both direct and indirect tax disputes. The firm’s areas of expertise include litigation relating to tax avoidance schemes, the tax treatment of employee benefits, and VAT.”

Testimonials say David “is able to articulate complex matters simply for the benefit of clients and has sound tactical awareness when dealing with HMRC.” Recognised for his “extensive experience advising clients facing HMRC investigations and stands out for his expert knowledge of VAT,” Giles is a “very technical lawyer. He is detail-oriented and user-friendly.”
