Nineteen of our lawyers have been recognised in the latest edition of Chambers High Net Worth. Our Divorce and Family department, as well as our Trust and Probate Litigation department have maintained their Band 1 rankings in this year’s guide.
With 14 family lawyers listed, Stewarts continues to score more rankings in the Family/Matrimonial Finance: Ultra High Net Worth category than any other firm.
Five lawyers (including all four partners) from our Trust and Probate Litigation team are also recognised, highlighting the team’s continued ability to deliver excellence for its clients.
Divorce and Family
Our Divorce and Family team maintains its top ranking in the Ultra High Net Worth category, reinforcing our reputation as the “go-to firm for the most high-profile spouses”, with a “significant number of truly outstanding lawyers, who cover every conceivable area of work.”
Head of Divorce and Family Stephen Foster, described as “an absolutely first-rate divorce lawyer” with a “great strategic vision” and whose “judgment is excellent”, is once again one of the four Band 1 ranked Stewarts Divorce and Family partners in the 2026 guide. This includes Sam Longworth, who has secured a well-deserved promotion to Band 1 this year and is hailed as “unbelievably good” and “an excellent lawyer to have on your side”.
Voirrey Ward has also been promoted in this year’s guide. She is praised for providing “good, independent and objective advice” and for representing clients to the “highest quality”.
The following Divorce and Family team members have also retained their impressive rankings:
Helen Ward is once again listed as a Senior Statesperson. Emma Hatley described as “a phenomenon”, also retains her Star Individual ranking in this year’s guide. She is praised for her “speed of thought and assimilation of detail, coupled with her efficiency, excellent judgement, ever positive personality and first-rate client management skills”, qualities that have “rightly taken her to the pinnacle of the profession”.
Band 1-ranked Richard Hogwood is described as “highly intelligent” and praised for the “aura of calmness” he brings to even the most “challenging situations”, while fellow Band 1 practitioner Debbie Chism is recognised as “absolutely top of the tree.” She is also described as “tough, a good negotiator and very wise.”
Matthew Humphries (Band 2) is described as “just excellent”. He is “diligent and thorough in his approach, has sound judgment, knows his law inside out and never fails to do the very best for his clients and often in challenging and complex cases.”
The team’s strength is further reflected across the rankings. Toby Atkinson is recognised as a “very calm and confident lawyer, who gives his clients an excellent service”, while Carly Kinch is described as an “absolute star”, praised for her “client commitment, management and ability to give informed, robust advice independently.”
Lucy Stewart-Gould continues to build her reputation as “a skilful family lawyer who leaves no stone unturned in her quest to achieve the best outcomes for her clients”, with recognition for her expertise in international cases and jurisdictional disputes. Sophie Chapman is equally highly regarded with one commentator describing her as a “tenacious family lawyer” who is “not to be underestimated” and another highlighting her “mental acuity, creativity and efficiency.” Rising star Jenny Duggan is also commended for her “calmness under pressure”.
Sarah Havers retains her recognition as an Associate to Watch in this year’s guide, receiving praise for being “brilliant” and “a dream to work with”.
Trust and Probate Litigation
Our Trust and Probate Litigation team is once again top ranked in the Private Wealth Disputes category. We are praised as a “powerful private wealth disputes team” that “are really good on big international trusts disputes” and “provide advice that is practical and clear to follow.”
Head of Trust and Probate Litigation James Price retains his longstanding Band 1 ranking, further reinforcing his reputation as “an exceptional lawyer at the top of his game”. He is praised for his “fantastic judgement” and is also recognised as a lawyer who “runs the biggest cases”. This year, Geoff Kertesz joins him in Band 1, reflecting his standing as “fantastically bright and a master tactician”. Clients also praise his “practicality, combined with his sharp wit and intellectual rigour”.
Partner Emma Holland has also been promoted to Band 2, highlighting her growing recognition in the market as “absolutely first-rate” and as someone who combines “encyclopaedic knowledge of the law of trusts and estates with real empathy”.
Jemma Goddard has maintained her ranking and is described as “one of the best senior associates I’ve worked with for a long time… competent and sensible”.
Marcus Parker is also recognised in this year’s guide and is praised as “brilliant” for the perspective he brings from his years as an offshore trustee.
