Richard acts for businesses and senior individuals, and has extensive experience of high-value and complex High Court litigation involving restrictive covenants and team moves.  Richard’s work often has an international dimension.

Richard is well placed to undertake detailed and independent investigations in all types of work environments regarding sensitive issues such as sexual harassment/misconduct, bullying, corporate wrongdoing including regulatory/compliance breaches and whistleblowing, and financial misconduct.

Richard also advises on disciplinary and grievance procedures, negotiating departures and settlement agreements, Employment Tribunal litigation on the grounds of unfair dismissal, discrimination, equal pay and whistleblowing, and disputes regarding garden leave and post-termination restrictive covenants.

Richard advises both LLPs and Partners regarding all aspects of the Partnership/LLP relationship specialising in issues regarding the parties’ entitlements under LLP/Partnership Agreements, advising on the legality of expulsions and potential means of legal redress, and Unfair Prejudice Petitions.


  • Richard carried out an in-depth investigation at a leading NHS Trust following multiple and protracted allegations raised by doctors/surgeons which involved interviewing numerous employees, reviewing significant documentation and producing a detailed report and recommendations
  • Acting for a team of employees moving between fund managers where their former employer contended that they had breached their contractual and fiduciary obligations
  • Acting for a Partnership in a  dispute with a LLP member whose position had become untenable as a result of a serious error of judgment potentially compromising the security of highly confidential information
  • Acting for a company pursuing a High Court claim against former directors/employees/consultants who had breached contractual and fiduciary obligations to include misappropriating confidential information and business opportunities belonging to our client
